The Logan County Electric Cooperative is committed to helping you effectively manage your energy usage by providing information on effective monitoring devices. A limited number of monitoring devices are available for cooperative members to use at no charge by calling our office at 592-4781.

The Kill-a-Watt monitors usage of a single 110V device with a plug, such as a refrigerator, large screen TV, etc. This unit is effective in determining how much energy is being used by a single appliance.
The ENVI Energy Monitor can monitor an entire home's energy usage, or individual circuits in the electric service panel. This unit can monitor 'hard-wired' devices such as electric water heaters, well pumps, air conditioners and electric base-board heaters. An electrician needs to install this for homeowner use.

The Blueline PowerCost Monitor™ is easy to install, with no need for an electrician. A simple sensor unit attaches easily to your electricity meter sending information to a convenient handheld display. To date, the PowerCost Monitor™ has demonstrated that real time information can help families reduce consumption by up to 18%.
The Thermal Leak Detector is a simple yet effective way to analyze where cool/heated air is entering your home. You can also determine where more insulation might be needed in the walls or ceiling.

The Blower Door test is a diagnostic tool designed to measure the airtightness of buildings. and to help locate air leakage sites.

A basic blower-door system includes three components: a calibrated fan, a door-panel system, and a device to measure fan flow and building pressure. The blower-door fan is temporarily sealed into an exterior doorway using the door-panel system. The fan is used to blow air into or out of the building, which creates a small pressure difference between inside and outside. This pressure difference forces air through all holes and penetrations in the building enclosure. The tighter the building (e.g. fewer holes), the less air is needed from the blower door fan to create a change in building pressure.
